Fortunately, the internet has made accessing information about stars easier than ever. While certain stars (Marilyn Monroe, Katharine Hepburn) have biographies and other types of books printed almost yearly, other stars like Norma Shearer and James Cagney don’t get enough attention from publishers. Luckily, there are thousands of good fan sites out there which classic movie buffs spend time dedicating webspace to their favorite icon or icons. Unfortunately, some webmasters aren’t as enthusiastic about their sites, and the pages are rarely updated.

As of this writing, Joan Crawford ranks as the most gifted star of the internet. No other person to work in Hollywood has the online appreciation as Crawford does. The majority of Crawford sites are so richly detailed; it is inspiring to readers like me to get some sort of webpage up. Norma Shearer is a close second, as her gallery on Divas: The Site features hundreds of rare Norma photographs –it’s a gallery larger than that of any other star (with the exception of Crawford).
