Reviews:

Mordaunt Hall in the New York Times, March 3, 1925: "Mr. Pickford evidently takes this story seriously himself, as his brew is created much of the time. The narrative is said to have been written by James Cruze and Frank Condon, but they can't be blamed for all that goes on in this production. Miss Shearer is comely and Mr. Francis as the unshorn fantastic is as usual, clever."

Aline O'Brien in Movie Weekly, May 2, 1925: "Walking Up the Town is a nice little picture, even though it doesn't live up to its title. Jack Pickford is the young man who elects himself a committee of one to make the town sit up and take notice and he is successful in that though he does not give as artistic portrayal as usual. Nor does Norma Shearer delight to eye as she has done in previous productions. To tell the truth their respective roles do not provide much scope for their talents."
