Reviews:

Variety, January 31, 1924: "Pictorial excellence, adequate direction, good acting and a story very thin, about sums up The Trial of the Law, an Oscar Apfel feature, good enough for the minor half of the average double bill. It features Norma Shearer, undoubtedly a comer, and Wilfred Lytell, announced as due to arrive for some time, but who never seems to be able to overtake his older brother. Miss Shearer is appealing even in trousers and cap, but the usual imagination is needed to conceive her palming herself as a boy."

Photoplay, April, 1924: "When you have seen this piece you will understand why altruistic persons advertise, 'Beware of Imitations.'

Part 1: A country girl is wooed and won by a city chap. Part 2: Because of some rather unquestionable characters in the vicinity, the girl masquerades as a boy during the day. Part 3: For fifteen years Papa has been on the trial of the bad man. Part four: He gets him. If this strikes you as interesting, the pleasure is all yours."

Notes/Trivia:
Norma's character is a female, but dresses as a man because of rapists in the woods.
