Jones, Jennifer: Reprised Norma’s role of Elizabeth Barrett Browning in Sidney Franklin’s remake of The Barretts of Wimpole Street. The remake was praised but many critics still expressed their admiration for Sidney Franklin’s original 1934 film with Norma, Fredric March, and Charles Laughton.

Judiasm: Raised in a strict Orhhodox Jewish home, Irving Thalberg had warned Norma that she would need to convert inorder for him to marry her, she later said:

"When I began to go with Irving, I began to associate with his people. His family are all Orthodox Jews and I saw that they found peace and contentment in their religion. I wanted peace and contentment in our marriage. I decided I had no particular religious convictions that I could find in the Jewish faith. I loved Irving so much that I wanted our children brought up in the same way he had been."

Norma was told to say her vows in Hebrew. She completely messed up the lines, but got them right when someone whispered them to her.
