Idiot's Delight (1939): Directed by Clarence Brown; stars Norma and Clark Gable; based on the play by Robert E. Sherwood.

In 1974, MGM produced That’s Entertainment, a celebration of the MGM musicals. The clip of Clark Gable singing, “Puttin’ on the Ritz” was included, and when Norma heard the news, she demanded her reaction shots be deleted from the final cut. When the studio refused, she threatened a lawsuit, feeling that they had undermined her film importance, and reduced her to little more than a supporting player. Executives called back and said that her name had been voiced over, like all the other stars in the film, and Norma relented, but made it clear she was not entirely over it.

(Note: The entire situation made Norma upset because it made Norma realize that, by 1974, she had been virtually forgotten by the public.)
